Car detailing, paint correction, scratch removal
We bought the Disco about 1 month ago now. When we travelled to look at the car it had been raining and it was covered in water beading from the wax.
I wiped of the water as best as possible and identified a fine scratch running down the near side nearly full length of the car. It looked like a bush or similar had caught it and it didn't look to be too deep. The rest of the car seemed OK. I was told that the scratch could be polished out and this was agreed as a condition of sale - the only one as it turned out but that's another story
When I went to collect the car it had been raining again and once more it was difficult to see the true condition of the paintwork - the salesman confirmed the scratch had been polished out and also pointed out a small ding in one of the doors.
I wasn't too concerned as for me it was just what I was looking for - right model, right colour, right interior colour, right options, right mileage and right price, so I thought oh well I'll just get that seen to.
The next day when I got home the missus had been using the car and she had spotted all manner of marks and scratches as it was dry and sunny - most of them minor and probably usual for a car over 2.5 years old.
The scratch that the dealer had supposed to be polishing out was still there in places
The missus was a bit fed up - "we could have bought 2 brand new cars foir what that cost ........."
I had read previously on the net about detailing and how good the results appeared to be but didn't know anyone who had had it done.
I found 3 local (South Yorkshire) companies but narrowed it down to one, after reading positive reviews about the guy on 'detailing world' and seeing writeups of previous jobs he had done on his website - Russell at Reflectology
Still a little sceptical I arranged for him to come and do the work and how glad I am.
He worked constantly for 2 long days, about 22.5 hours in total and the transformation is unbelievable - all but the worst scratches have disappeared and are hardly noticeable - even the missus is happy

Russell has taken lots of his own pictures and will be doing a write up of the job and he said he will let me have a copy of them. When I get them I will post some as they show the difference before during and after.
The metalic flake in the paint when the sun shines on it is gorgeous.

Hi Dan,
It depends on the condition of your car to begin with but expect to pay £300+ (SWMBO might be watching)
Sounds a lot but I reakon the stealer would have had the car on the forecort at least £1K higher in this condition.
I'm well happy as it is virtually like a brand new car - if not better
Forgot to mention the dent that was probably caused by a shopping tolley was removed by his mate for £30 - bargain

Yes I agree
He openly admits he is not the cheapest but I just wanted someone to do a good job and that's certainly what he did.
I was very nervous leaving my pride & joy with someone who I didn't know and was preying that they didn't make a cock up. Confidence was restored when I came home on the 1st day and saw the results made up to then.
Trouble is I daren't drive it now

He said he will speak to me next week about "maintenance" but recommended 'Fareclar detailer spray' after washing which he said is like 'showroom shine' that I have used on my other car but better?

Cheers - Its amazing what can be done and it looks even better in real life than the photos.
Not sure how much the products effect the finish and whether I can keep it looking as good is another matter
