Video Clip - Erratic Revs |
|
Garage is beaten by this one, no fault codes issued. Short video clip showing battery warning and engine management lights coming on simultaneously, revs all over the place. Intermittent fault which the garage is unable to replicate. Originally thought this was a towing related fault but now know this is not the case. Appreciate any help.

A bit more information would be a big help.
Auto or manual?
Under load, or cruising?
Does the engine note change when the fault occurs?
What is the red warning light coming on the dash? The Engine management light is normally yellow...

Do the revs actually rise and fall or is it only the rev counter needle that is all over the place ?

Thanks for the replies guys. The cars a 57 plate disco 3 HSE which I purchased at the start of the year. Believe the fault to be present when I bought it but as I say intermittent. The red light on the left is the 'Battery Warning light', the one on the right ' engine management fault'. The revs are genuine and all over the place, deceleration is sudden as if the fuel has been shut off rather than a gradual deceleration if you had taken your foot of the accelerator. Only seems to happen when cruising, when it starts you can power through it but when the revs drop again the fault reappears. The car is an automatic but manual can be selected, fault present in both. While driving in cruise control the swing in revs caused it to disengage, fortunately no one close behind. Fault has never occurred when driving around town only when its been cruising for a while.
