OBD faults and black smoke |
|
I've got the following codes:
P0104 mass or volume air flow circuit intermittent
P0140 O2 sensor no Activity
P0132 Oxygen sensor high voltage
P0190 fuel rail pressure circuit malfunction
P0234 engine over boost condition
Symptoms with the codes are black smoke on kickdown or under load, loss of grunt over 70mph and sluggish acceleration in the mid-range. Smoke disappears when cruising.
I've changed the intercooler hose for a silicon version.
EGR's are blanked.
Cleaned the MAP sensor.
checked the inlet manifold connections.
Not yet checked the intercooler for cracks.
Should I just get a dealer to clear the codes and see if they return, or should I try fault finding elsewhere first and start replacing the MAF etc?

Sorry to hear you frustration there, only good news is you don't have fault code I had which required new turbo due to stuck variable vanes, I would say the over boost could also point to turbo. Hopefully disco mickey would respond soon, can you hear the varible vanes move after switching off the engine??( trickey with EGrs also going)Could be worth hard reset and leaving battery disconnected for 12/24 hour and charging at the same time? A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2
MY09EGR's blanked Thanks Bellautos, BAS

Split intercooler hose springs to mind.

I'll try giving it listen and maybe try the disconnect!

A TDV6 doesnt have an O2/Oxygen sensor, not sure why those codes would be present...
I did wonder if it was a V8, but then there wouldnt be an overboost fault...
Looking at your faults though, it looks like you have a potentially faulty turbo with P0324, but P0190 is related to low fuel pressure, both of which would cause engine system fault to be displayed on the dash.
Personally, I would advise fitting a new fuel filter, to eliminate the cheapest of options, and also have the fault codes cleared afterwards, and see if any faults return My D3 Build Thread

And check the intercooler for cracks, that was the reason on mine. Have a look at this:
