| Repaired Tyres, 'Plugged'? |
|
Following on from my other thread where I've just brought a part worn tyre with a plugged puncture repair in the middle of the tread, I was wondering how others felt about running a tyre with a plugged repair?
As long as it's done well I don't have a problem with it, but I'll probably be told I'm daft.

As long as it was done properly it should be fine normal way to repair and will have a proper patch on the inside. Even a puncture on the shoulder can be reapaired well. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

We repair many punctures every day with no problem.

I my view it depends on you attitude to risk.
Due to the distances and lack of traffic on the roads over here I regularly travel 200+ miles on motorways at constant 80 – 85 mph with the management, 3 teenagers, and a dog and all their ‘stuff’ in the vehicle.
For piece of mind I would always replace in the event of a puncture, if most of my driving was around town and on slower lanes I would probably feel OK about a repair.

so you'd scrap a perfectly good tyre due to a puncture thats easily and correctly repaired?? Like you, i travel daily 250 miles, loaded up some days/kids/towing, on tyres that have had a puncture repaired with no problems, and no risk.
I'm guessing, but probaly half the tyres on the road have had pucnture repairs.
