Tyre Info

At last service Dealer advised four new tyres and alignment check they offered to supply buget set at £105 ea and £100 for the alignment doe's this seem ok?, car only doe's 6K miles a year never off road and tow's the tin tent for hols so economy needed, I'm thinking buget tyre's as well but not sure which type any advice would be great

if budget tyres, make sure that they are weight rated to the D3 at 111 or higher.

I've always stuck with branded names for tyres TBH, not saying the budget ones wont be fine, but it's a big heavy beast.....

I've tried Nexen in 275x45x20's - worse tyre I've ever used, got rid of as fast as I could. Doubt if I did 1000miles on them.

I used to think about getting cheap tyres but then you really have to consider - those bits of rubber are all there is keeping you in control of a couple of tonnes of metal and keeping you and your family / passengers this side of oblivion!

Do you really want to save £50 that much?

Dont know if Toyo is regarded as an economy tyre but used to have them on the front of my other car. Absolute rubbish, had an accident caused by understeer when on a mildly damp road going around a corner. Replaced with Pirelli... wow, what a difference.

Caravanning may be cheap (per night on a site) but do you really want to risk it? Surely an arguement against cheap tyres?

Consider General Grabber ATs from site sponsor AJS Tyres:-

Great all round tyre, excellent life, safer than, & I would have thought more cost effective than "El Cheapo".

The Pirelli scorpions gave me 'confidence issues' once they were becoming more than half worn and they gave up on me once in the wet with the tin tent behind... I required the additional braking performance of a datsun. Embarassed

Never had any confidence issues with the Grabbers.
