Funny noises after engine switched off |
|
On my 2012 D4 HSE, after the engine has been running (30 seconds or 5 hours) there are two annoying noises coming from the engine compartment (both from the passenger side) after the ignition has been switched off.
1) The auxiliary heater is often running and you can see and smell the fumes for what seems like minutes after the car has been switched off. On cold days you can see the heat clearly. Why on earth is it burning?
2) For about 1 minute there is a really high pitched whine coming from under the bonnet. Different to the issue above, but a funny sort of high pitched pulsating noise. Very annoying.
The car is going off to the dealer in a week or so, but wanted to know if these issues are "non-issues" or if there is something better to describe the issues to the dealer.
Thanks.

think the pulsing noise may be the EGRs but it is usually quite quiet Don’t worry it is supposed to sound like that...honest

The pulsing noise is the car checking the system through the can bus and checking the ecu's out before going to sleep, the D4 does seem to make more noise than the D3... I fitted a dual charge system to a D4 the other day and noticed the high pitch whine that comes from the engine compartment..
The FBH is doing it's shut down purge routine this is completly normal activity.
