In my other car is the same, You have to buy the disc and the dealer has to install, (you can not do it by yourself). The difference is You don´t have to pay any workshop time to install.

I am still waiting for a dealer in Ireland to actually be able to update my D4 Navigation!!!!
Numerous attempts have been made all to no avail.
Today they couldn't get anything to work despite having it all linked up. 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Why when I purchase a new vehicle is the mapset over two years old? Why am I expected to pay for the update of an outdated mapset? A little like saying, "oh by the way you need to get a windscreen for your new car".
Down here in NZ the maps are so old I have gone back to using my stick on the screen Garmin which rarely lets me down especially with lifetime upgrade for under 200.00US. Most new roads are on Garmin way before they are completed. In an upmarket vehicle like D4 I would have expected better. Land Rover are very quiet on this subject! Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

You are probably having the same problem as we are here in Ireland - the dealers do not know how to install the map updates?! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Not sure about that. I have emailed NAVTEQ, who have put the ball back with Landrover. My dealer says that LR in NZ (at least) are trying to charge them hundreds of dollars for the update. Come on guys there is a fish here! Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

The official price in the UK for the Western European update is £110, plus one hour of dealer workshop time (which varies depending on the dealership). It's around about the same in Euro equivalent here in Ireland.
Ask The Large One aka Nick on here, he might be able to get you the official price then you can see if you are being ripped off or not! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

€220, but that was at the most expensive (in terms of workshop hourly rate) dealership in this country....... but as they were the only ones who seemed to have the kit and the knowledge of how to perform the upgrade I had little choice - it would have cost as much if not more to travel up to Northern Ireland....!
Strangely enough they simply used a hard drive connected to my vehicle via a laptop then ordered the Navteq code using the chassis number.....
So it may not be too long before the ability to upgrade may become available to independent dealers or to home workshops! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial
