you may find the insurance co insist on it if the value is over £50k
with my D3 the installation of a tracker didnt save a great deal and it would have cost more in annual charges than savingsDuncan

Yep, pretty much what i suspected. Have tried a couple of companies online and could only get so far through the quote unless i clicked the "tracking device fitted" box. They seem to have us by the short and curlies.......

Haven't got a tracker. None of the companies found from comparison sites insisted on one but the quotes weren't brilliant. The direct company (with the telephone on wheels) insisted on one. The direct company that used to have the Norfolk county town in its name didn't require a tracker and gave the best quote for everything I needed, and a replacement car in the event of total loss in the first year with a new car.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

The sad fact is and I didn't find out until I had a tracker equipped car stolen that they do not work on high end cars the type of Scrote that will be after a d4 is highly organised and clued up and will have a tracker signal blocker with him they do work where it's some junkie that hasn't a clue what he is doing and nicking a car to swap for his next baggie
