How much to fix a puncture?

When topping up my tyre pressures yesterday I noticed a big fat hobnail sticking well into the tread of a tyre.
Not wanting to pull too hard to get it out [in case the tyre suddenly deflated on my inclined driveway] I booked it into my local garage.
[Yes, tyre did deflate when they took the hobnail out]
Just picked D4 up and paid [£21 + vat] £25.
Was a bit taken aback but it did have:-
Wheel off D4, tyre off rim, repair puncture, tyre back on rim, balance, fit back on D4.
What do you reckon.
Confused
Got the usual excellent service from garage btw Thumbs Up

I usually pay £15 + VAT at my local place - but i do have to drop off & wait. It is usually only a 5 minute job from their point of view & the parts involved surely can't cost too much?

Agree £25 quid is top end, assume they did a proper job, new valve and rebalanced and refitted for that money

A colleague of mine just had a puncture repaired on his BMW motorbike.

Don't know whether they're much more difficult to get off/put back, but he was charged 67 euros from the official BMW dealer here in Tarragona.

Censored Censored Censored

We were all shocked (btw, it was a 1 week old tyre). I don't think he'll forget that bill soon....

....so in hindsight, can't really call 25 pounds as "expensive"

5 years ago I had a puncture repaired at Tanvik Tyres Newark in the rear tyre of a JCB on a Saturday morning, cost £8 yes £8.
Two weeks ago nail in D3 went to same place Tanvik, tyre was plugged not patched which I thought was now illegal, cost £20!!!
Workshop was empty of customers, 4 tyre fitters where stood in a group chattering while a young lad repaired my tyre and the female cleaner went about her work. Guess I won't be buying my next set of tyre from them.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Sorry gent's but there is more work in mending a puncture than fitting a new tyre and it takes longer.

Twenty five quid is better than paying for a new tyre unless the tyre is near the end of it's life.

Just had one done on my defender for a tenner - and got a receipt! Didn't balance it, but just marked the tyre and put it back in same place. I was sceptical, but there's no vibes so I assume it's ok. Nice not having to blow it up every other day though

BTW - Told that a puncture repair takes your tyre speed rating down a level.
Anyone heard this?
If so, [to be pedantic] surely there could be insurance issues ?
