Anyone had this problem? I have a new '06 HSE with only 300 km which is suffering from a knock or creak coming from the right rear - not sure whether inside or out. Noticeable only when going over an uneven surface like a pothole on the right side. No sound when both sides affected as over a speed bump. It's not the cargo cover or seats. Also occurs like a groaning when turning into my driveway - a steep slow turn uphill to the right. Taking it in to the dealer in a couple of days but wondering if anyone out there has any ideas. Thanks and ciao.

Try putting some grease on the plastic tail gate top locating sliders. Where the two faces meet together. Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.

Check to see if the spare tire is secured properly. I was looking underneath my LR3 the day after I brought it home and discovered that it was not completely raised! From what I understand this may be a common problem.

Same knock fixed by dealership |

My knock was right rear too...exactly as you described...sounded from upper half of lift gate when going over rumble strips or uneven pavement (forcing torsional twist of body against lift gate). I asked dealership to check out and they tightened the struts and strikes (on both lift gate and body). I haven't heard it since...something must have been misaligned.

Good answer Johnhe!! I'll give that a try. We have been snowed in here for the past few days so I cancelled my appt. Hard to sort out the various sounds in wet slush. I'll get at it when the rain returns this weekend and also sit in the back and let my girlfriend drive me around. Thanks and ciao.

As fyi, I also asked dealer to check the front wipers since they skipped all the way across their upward sweep in all rain conditions. Since it rains a bit in our part of the continent and if you're experiencing same, you may want to request that they check and/or change the wipers...mine were changed for new (even though the originals were only used for about a month) which completely fixed the wiper skipping problem.
Makes for a much quieter commute.
