can i add reversing camera ? |
|
Hey Guys,
just picked up my MY12 Nara Bronze got a quick question I am coming from a MY06 Sport which I had installed a reversing camera through a gvif interface.
I'm not sure what my disco is model is named in the UK but it has the upgraded stereo and bluetooth touch screen but no sat nav, can I run a cable and use a faultmate to enable a reversing camera on the screen?

Absolutely! So you have the XE model, which as you say, annoyingly comes with the button marked "NAV" but no official way of ordering Navigation to be added on! However I suspect you will be able to get various things activated including full Navigation with the help of some of the people on here!
Seems a few of these 5 seaters went out to new customers today, I was getting my D4 serviced and three went out whilst I was waiting around the dealer!
I further suspect that the wiring for your reversing camera may well already be in place..........!

Yes...... hard drive is already there because you have the virtual CD player with that audio system (I think?), just needs activating and the maps installed. But as you will see from my post in the topic marked "sat nav" in this part of this Forum, getting Navigation updated is a farce in the Republic.........there's only ONE laptop which is being shared between ALL the dealers in the country!!!!!!
So it may be worth your while either arranging to go over to the UK to one of the specialists on this Forum or perhaps up to Northern Ireland. What I'd love is for the likes of Wiggs or someone to set up shop in Ireland.........

Yes it is touch screen, I am happy enough to run the cable myself but was wondering if the input would be there ? Also Wiggs do you know if APL is correct, could i enable sat nav ?

On the 6 speed D4's you could add the camera and needed wireing and activate with the Faultmate. but the MY2012 cars that are 8 speed are still a work in progress for the Faultmate which may hold you up a little at the moment.
I dont see any problems with doing it just as on the older D4's but the activation for sure will be needed. Unless I can come up with a module for it with my next stock delivery of TV/DVD on the move modules due in soon

Wiggs and Pete, you still haven't answered crowej's question of whether Navigation can be enabled on vehicles which have the touch screen mid line audio system installed (as some of the new 5 seat vehicles do over here in Ireland)....... If you can, I'd say there would be enough work to warrant you coming over here sometime to work on a few cars...... 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Nothings imposible ...but until i have seen a screen and wiring diagrams im not going to give a deffinate answer .
Biggest issue would be the maps.. as at the moment its only the dealer who can apply maps to the hard drive G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Hi,
I live in Brazil and i just bought a 2012 Discovery 4 SE SDV6, 6 speed.
Since it's kind of ugly to find a good supplier in here, i would like to know if it is possible to use dvd, gps and rear camera on it, and which stuff i would need to buy.
