Off road protection

Hi All,

I'm planning on using my disco for laning and overland trips, what essential protection do I need to get and in what priority?

I was thinking along the lines of: front under bumper protection, rock/tree sliders, rear bumper and air tank!

I see Devon 4x4 do loads of alloy under protection, is it all needed?

Before you order Rich, check that they have components for the D4 as the pictures in the advert are for D3. The area under the front bumper is different on the D4 and fittings may be different with the Devon 4 x4 (D44) items.

Ohhh Rich funny catching you on here !

Dave will be pleased if you are going to bring that out......

There was a feature in last months LRO where d4x4 covered the bottom of the editors d3 but as they say the d4s are slightly different

Hi Ids, why do you think I ordered a white one, won't show the damage so much.

I was just showing the Devon pics as an example and I have seen the other kits that people have pm'd me thanks but I was just wondering what was actually needed and or what gets damaged.

Rich, I have a front plate, sump plate, tranmission plate and tree slider/steps. All have had a good hammering out greenlaning and pay & play stuff. The sliders are also good for stopping door dents in carparks Thumbs Up
Others i know have got a few more bits covered, but doesn't really seem necessary unless you're gonna really abuse it Mr. Green

So with the list above which actual products/suppliers would be recommended? I'm going to get the sump plate + rock/tree sliders but I see Prospeed also do a compressor plate. Has anyone had a problem with the compressor despite having the rock sliders fitted?

Old Jack go for D44 under side protection is the best there IMHO as all plates pretty much join together so you'd slide over anything
besides you get wicked fuel tank plate
adding to full happiness you can get proper tree sliders from Prospeed + compressor cover
I have to confess Romania did scratch my underside a lot but only on surface of protection plates so well worth spending the dosh
getting more for Pyrenees now

Yeah I'll go for the Devon under protection and just been sent pictures of their new discreet winch carrier and been told that they are making a rear bumper as well.

They are in the process of designing/making rear bumpers For disco 4's maybe with wheel carriers on.

Rich

I'd go with sump guard and air compressor guard as definites. The rest are optional in my view - its a lot of extra weight for overlanding. If you are planning to push the car right to the limit then go for the full monte.

Tree sliders are best for car parks. Leave the car in Off Road suspension mode with tree sliders and never get a door dinged again!

Tree sliders are best for car parks eh? Rolling with laughter

So RLD for the sump and Prospeed for the Compressor. Looks like I need to get in touch with Uncle Ray as I will need the spare wheel protector.
