Ron, I would check out ADAC, I put a link in another post, you can get joint membership for 89 euros (good exchange rate at the moment ), it covers all of Europe for recovery plus any vehicle you happen to be in, it also covers hotels and a weeks car hire, you don't get that with a lot of others. The icing on the top is the worldwide medical recovery in one of their own ambulance aircraft, helicopter / jet, I see a girl is in a coma today in Australia after a quad bike accident and they are trying to raise money to get her home, ADAC would bring you back. It also covers dependent children I think up to 28yrs in full time education, so school trips / holidays are covered.
Open this link in Chrome and press translate Each section can e expanded for further info, you need the 'plus' membership to cover the UK, you will see they are linked to the AA in the UK, see member benefits.
It is the second largest in the world to the US AAA.
