D4 FBH question: no timed FBH but can I start it manually?

I have a MY12 XS without timed or remote climate/FBH start function. It's now down around -10 degrees where I am in Germany and I wondered if it's possible to start the FBH without first having to start the engine and so avoid unnecessary wear?

I've tried just pressing the START button without my foot on the brake (ie turning on the ignition) but the FBH doesn't fire up. It only seems to fire when the engine is started.

I expect the answer to my question is 'no' but wanted to check.

Many thanks.

As Dave said, if you have the Nav screen and FBH fitted, then the car is already enabled for timed climate, it just needs activating and programmed Thumbs Up

There is a recent thread about this HERE if you want to wade through it. I chipped in on page 6.

Mine doesn't work at all on Timed Climate Events, and only sometimes works on the remote, but only for 5 minutes - but there are no warning messages. The car's going into the dealers as soon as they can get me a courtesy car.

fbh

Thanks for the replies. I'm not upset that the fbh is not working properly, just upset that I paid for the remote. I've tried starting with the remote and the timed screen and both work but the heater will only run for 4 to 5 mins max and the blower for about 2. It would be nice for SWMBO to get into a warm car. Looks like I'll have to hound the dealer again. It is hard sometime as they consider you a complete idiot when it comes to techi bits but an ok guy when your buying. A courtsey car! What's that? They offer me a lift into town if it's raining.
