INJECTOR LEAK OFF PIPE ELECTRICAL SENSOR
hi
i would like to know if anyone can tell me what the electrical sensor does on the injector leak off pipes
the sensor is located beside the oil filter with a red connection it forms part of the three way junction where the two pipes commi ng from each of the three injectors from either side of the engine meet to go into one pipe that returns to the engine block below the oil filter
my pipe has snapped off at this junction and i could easily bypass this junction with some rubber hosing but not include the sensor what does it sense is it fuel temperature or pressure and can i drive it to the dealer without this connected dealer is 178 miles away from me and i dont think i can fit new pipes if i got the part as i dont know exactly the right proceedure for doing so unless anyone can help i can get the part sent by post
just thought if it measured fuel temp i may be able to bypass it to drive it many thanks

Hi toby653 the sensor you are on about is the fuel temp sensor don't think you will have any problems driving to the dealers with this sensor bypassed.
As for replacing the leak off pipe yourself will depend how much patients you have,i done mine you havent got to take much off but getting the little clips in and out is a nightmare i have some pics if it will help

Hi Woody
many many thanks for your post not sure how to bypass the electricla sensor yet as in the electrical part not sure if i should just leave it unplugged and connect all three hoses together with a 'Y' piece hose connector.
Some pictures would be amazing please my email address is tobyl.shaw@yahoo.co.uk if that helps and also how you roughly went about it
dealer wants a fair price for this job and its a nightmare of a journey to them so want to do it myself if possible

I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. Was leaking fuel.
When you look at it first, you go .
I removed the egr pipes and the rubber egr coolant hose (on the left of the engine, looking from the front). That gives access, so you can unclip a plastic tray of cables.
You need will need to disconnect some of the ends to get enough slack.
As with Woody clips are hard to get to. I used a long thin screw driver and Long nose pliers to get them out.
Took the oil filter off to release the sensor end.
Right side just needed the EGR pipe removed to get access to the cable tray.
The only thing I will say is be careful putting the clips back in. Yep I lost one in the engine bay somewhere, never to be seen again!
Had to improvise, when I discovered Land Rover don't sell them individually, only as part of a kit! There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.
