FFRR Wheels on D3

Just tried fitting a set of RRS 18inch wheels to my 2006 D3 base. My D3 Wheel nuts don't fit - bolt diameter is too big. Does anyone know if wheel specs have changed significantly or do I simply need a set of RRs nuts Question

Guys- there's a picture in my gallery but from what you've said i guess I've been mugged Embarassed

Are you sure they are 18" RRS alloys, and not the earlier 18" full fat RR alloys, as pre 2002 these use a smaller diameter wheelnut. All RRS and D3 wheels should use the same wheelnut. It sounds like you've got the early RR alloys.

post a pic and I'll tell you from that.

Yes ...all RRS alloys are direct fit to D3's regardless of spec

I can confirm that they are FFRR wheels, not RRS, which is why they won't fit Sad

Can't you get the smaller wheel nuts to make them fit??

As I take it they fit on the hub it's just the wheel nuts were a problem

forgot to add this yesterday. If you were sold these as RRS alloys take them back as they were mis-sold.

Ealier wheelnuts are £4 each (x 16), approx £13 for a locking wheelnut (x4), plus locking key extra, plus different wheelbrace. Starts to make a cheap set of 18" alloys much more expensive.

From the pic on that item, they are the right nuts you need for the earlier wheels.

anybody out therre with a P38 which would benefit from very nice new wheels at a bargain price! - even with the correct wheel nuts the wheels don't fit becuase the spokes foul disc caliper. On inspection the D3 wheels flange are significantly inboard of the spokes - fairly expensive way to learn this but there you go! Embarassed

Would wheel spacers solve the problem as referred to in the Snowchains thread?

Just a thought, but are the 255/60x18 tyres on you alloys any good, as these are the same size as the 18's used on the D3, so you might find a buyer for a good set of tyres, and just throw the alloys in for free.
