Assuming you didn't leave a window open Steve Wink it's likely to be a blocked drainage tube, this happened on a few early D3s but not heard of it happening for a while so you might just be unlucky. Take a trip to your dealer to get it sorted, ISTR there's a TSB or two on the subject - I'll take a look if I get a mo

thanks for that, happily, the windows were closed Smile

I shall take it to my local dealer although based on past experience of them when I was trying to buy a car, they will probably check the wrong car Rolling Eyes

Excuse my ignorance, what does ISTR stand for?

This TSB seems to refer to water running down front LH a piller, mine is coming in under the lower glove box... when feeling for wetness Shocked i found a small slot Shocked which had some form of sound deading material in it this to was wet !

Noticed you've got an 'S', so it won't be blocked drain tubes as these come from the sunroof. It could be this one, though

Discovery 3/LR3 - Water Ingress via A-Pillar Exterior Trim or A-Pillar Trim Adrift

No.LA501-007 31 April 2005 Discovery 3 / LR3 Vin range : 5A000259 Onwards

Markets : All Section : 501-08

Summary :
A customer may report a concern of the illumination of miscellaneous warning lamps and/or water in footwell.

Cause : Water ingress through the lower slot in the body A-pillar, where the A-pillar exterior trim lower location peg locates.
Action : Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin.

Land Rover wrote:
Service Procedure
NOTE : Irrespective of which side of the vehicle the water ingress/trim adrift condition is found, to ensure a right first time repair the procedure should be applied to both sides. The repair kit includes the necessary parts to perform the procedure on both sides.

1 . Release the seven retaining clips and remove the A-pillar molding.

2 . Remove and discard the foam washer from the lower peg.

3 . CAUTION : Ensure any remaining protrusions will not contact the body A-pillar.

Cut away the lower location peg from the A-pillar trim.

4 . NOTE : Ensure the area where the patch is to be applied is clean and dry.

NOTE : Ensure the patch is evenly secured and fully adhered to the body.

Secure the patch supplied in the repair kit to the body, covering the lower slot in body A-pillar.

5 . Remove and discard the trim retaining clips.
6 . Attach a new clip (IPN500050) from the repair kit to the lower A-pillar exterior trim bracket.

7 . Secure the four securing clips (DZM000070) from the repair kit to the remaining A-pillar exterior trim brackets.

8 . CAUTION : Care must be taken not to cause damage to the clips when installing the exterior trim.

NOTE : Ensure that the trim is secure.

Install the A-pillar exterior trim to the body.
9 . Repeat the procedure for the opposite side of the vehicle.
