Never had an auto before so thought I would finally give it a go

F Censored g h Censored l, I s Censored t a brick, took off faster than a scalded cat in scaldsville on national scalding day.

Used it to pull out at a roundabout, was at the apex before I knew it, lost the front end, lifted off, drifted a bit, came off at exit and floored it again for a nano second, backed off restored to normal D and then breathed out.

Will need to try this again under more controlled circumstances I think.

Ha ha - caught me off guard too the other day pulling out of a right hander. Was pulling out, loads of room but for some reason this poxy audi seemed to take offence and speed up to me. Planted it and it was a bit like whoa nelly getting her back in a straight line...

Lol - hit the paddle shift by mistake - so properly had to gun it up the road. Shocked

Seem to hit the upshift paddle fairly regularly accidentally - any quick way of taking the car out of paddle mode bar looking down to switch from D to Sport or vice versa?

Sport + Sand mode does bring an even bigger grin when you use it, does surprises some people how quick they can be.

It gives a nice burst of power to help get you out of sand, but it works equally well on the road, especially at traffic lights Whistle

Sand mode

It is the best setting for the deep, sugar sand like a trip to the dunes. It will cause your gearbox to "hang on" to the lower gears longer before allowing for an up shift. That translates into more torque, something essential in deep sand to keep the tyres moving.

It will also desensitise the DSC even further to allow for some wheel spin, all in an effort to make sure you keep forward momentum.

Always remember to switch off the DSC in this mode, as then the traction control will only kick in at a much later stage of wheel spin.

I have tried this tonight out of interest in my MY12 D4

When I put my car in sand mode and leave it in normal drive the car automatically goes through the gears

However in sport mode I can only shift up the gears using the paddles and the car will not do it automatically

Is this normal or have I a problem with my gearbox
