Possibly but I've not noticed it in previous years and there is the change in 'noise'. I've been running an additive through the injectors for the last three full tanks but that doesn't seem to help the fuel consumption. I first noticed the drop off in fuel consumption on 29th October driving back from Edinburgh airport.
To be honest I didn't know there was a winter grade diesel in the UK - can you tell me more?

Have a Google, lots about it, mpg is slightly worse and engine will be less refined but it will not wax/clog in low temps which is why they do it.

my fuel consumption always drops in winter to about 28. would agree with CFB it is normal
