Was this a scientific observation which you can relate specifically to the TC vs JE, or just a case of bad fuel Confused

We all want to think that ours is the best, but as I said in my first answer, I doubt if there is much between the two. Razz

i have neither tune, it was as scientific as following cars for a prolonged period of time, the diesel didn't help in morocco but once in spain / france it improved loads.

Just to clear up this 'Can the up-grade be detected' issue. By plugging in the dealer equipment and looking for the up-grade then the answer is no they cant see it.
However when the car is taken up the road by the dealer for a road test. The driver will notice a considerable improvement in performance. So in reality the answer will be, yes a dealer will be aware that the car may be up-graded or the road test driver will be. Wink

I have been told that some dealers used to offer the upgrade themselves. Do they still offer it and if not, why have they stopped?

some dealers do - or did.... there is apparently a problem (for now) with the 07MY models relating to the Euro 4 compliance

Andrew that has always been my point, having followed TC'd cars in the past and been left for dead it would be a brainless monkey at a dealers who didn't notice the performance difference. My dealership is great and offer excellent service, but seem to take a dim view of chipping so I have never had it done. I think if you are to have it done then you need to use a dealer who doesn't care about the chipping issue, that way if you were to have issues you would be able to revert to normal.

I have to say I would get it done, but being a coward and the wife's attitude why do you want that done comments mean mine is unchipped. I am surprised to read though that the likes of Vince Cobley uses a tunning box on his cars, that seems the worst possible route (or TC have successfully brainwashed me!)

Well I bet that L/R will "chip", actually I prefer the term "re-map", the TDV6 in the future. Many manufacturers do this on face lift models etc. VAG cars being a classic example, all the same engines just different versions of ECU's in them.

Yes just like the New Defender has the same engine as the New Transit but the Defender has the less powerful version. Mad
