Juddering on start up on cold mornings
Morning all
over the last cold mornings eg 2deg c. ish
my car will start fine, but the whole car shudders and wont rev, battery light is on and will flash off for a second and back on (but I presume this is because the revs are so low and not producing enough charge.)
soon as the juddering stops, all is ok
seems to go on longer the colder it is...
I am thinking glow plug/s, what do you peeps think before my indy has it thrown upon him
many thankoo's

Glow plugs sounds plausible. I understand that they can be a sod to get out, and if you snap one off its nasty

Does sound a reasonable diagnosis, however take note of what Gareth said, it is very common for them to be seized and very easy to snap them off!Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I'd be trying to get penetrating fluid down the glow plugs in anticipation but prepare yourself for the head having to come off!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

My indie told me that the ideal way for a mechanic to prepare for the job was to start with something easy, like pulling a sword from a stone.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I have had this for the past 2 winters, along with the All programmes off message, I presumed it was my battery that the cold was affecting? as it only lasts a couple of seconds I havent done anything else about it. In all other respects its fine and goes when the warmer weather arrives.

get him to test the alternator and battery first, from own experience recon that's yer culprit particulaly as the battery light stays on indicatating its running off the battery itself.
If they've got autologic or IDS/SDS then it might store an injector fault (number 6 is most common) as that's a similar issue reported by me a few months ago thinking it was the fuel from supermarkets, then TFC found the injector fault, is fine after having it replaced, no lumpy starts etc.
