Steering & wheel alignment |
|
Hi all,
I recently had front ARB's,NSF wheel bearing, front diff seals and front lower arms replaced and thought nows the time to treat it to a 4 wheel alignment!
So yesterday in it goes,to a garage with a very impressive "Hunter" machine, put the car in tight tolerance before i drove in,1 1/2 hours later all done and supplied with print outs of before and after!
Drove out of garage, plugged fault mate in,returned car to normal tolerance mode, drove home, all seemed really good, feels much tighter and generally more responsive
But today i've been driving around for about 60 miles and noticed from 1st thing this morning that my steering wheel is no longer straight and would say its between 12 and 1 o clock,so not straight but not far off but enough to bug me
So i plugged the fault mate back in made sure wheels were straight and recallibrated steering angle sensor thinking this might help but it hasn't
I took the car back into garage and without question the technician there had no hesitation in setting it all up to test again and sure enough it were out, so he realigns everything again, although strange he says "this has never happened before"!
This time though he tells me to go and test it and come back, so off i go again, get round the corner, put car back in normal tolerance mode and drive around locally, however it seems the steering wheel is still off from straight,so i went back into garage and the technician says they have never had this before and now is doubting something is worn/loose causing it to become mis aligned
Any ideas greatly appreciated because its doing mine and the technicians heads in

ps.I know of a few of our members have been to the same place, with excellent results, and TBH i'm not doubting them at all, but more likely something else wrong with the bloody car

Steering tie-rod ends ?....mine felt far more "planted",with less play at the straight ahead after I got mine replaced....just an idea "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Try another garage or main dealer ? , I took mine to a local garage and it took them 3 attempts before the steering wheel was straight. Just deciding about tyres and then will have it done again.
