disco 3 knocking noise when off roading?
Hi all, when I go off roading and use low range or the terrain response, i get an occasional knocking noise coming from the back. At first I thought it might be a dry CV (sounds like) but had that checked. The only thing I can think of is that it is the diff lock slipping. My friends one does the same when he goes off roading. Any ideas??

Hi, this might be a silly reply but .... is it only low range and terrain response that induce this? Could it be the harmonic dampers, they sometimes make a knocking noise offroad.

No, it is definately transmission related and it sounds like a dry CV. I will try and pin point more accurately when the sounds starts.
By the way, what would happen if we removed the harmonic weights at the back?

Does it happen when you go straight or on bigger turns? I think the diff locked without any slippery.
