Yup - I did it using a kit from Hids4U (site sponsor). Ballast fits on the outside of the headlamp unit, underneath and wires go in through a gromet (supplied). Connects using existing connectors as far as the car is concerned.
They are very bright!
P.S. I eventually decided against them and replaced the whole units with OEM Xenon ones, which I prefer. 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

discoBizz: I thought you meant the main headlights too!
However, as you will have gathered from my post, I do have a slightly used "H7 55w Ultimate Xenon HID Conversion Kit" (5000K) going unused, for which I'm open to offers (original cost £163) 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

Can't say for sure - the ballasts on mine are quite big, and I suspect you'd need to fit them internally in driving lights, so I'd be surprised if they could be crammed in there to be honest, but maybe someone else who's tried it themselves can confirm or not...? 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

Hi
The front bumper lights are for fog use so driving with them on unless its foggy is illegal and will get you a fine
further more if you fit HID to these lights and its foggy all you will get is light bounce back they will not penetrate the fog, think about when and if youve ever flicked your main beam on when its foggy
cheers

MikeS2005: I believe he means the spotlights that get mounted on top of the bumper - not the fog lights set into the bumper... 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

Yes, indeed I am referring to the ones on the bumper, not the fog lights in the bumper
Would never use them for fog, I have them twisted to shine at approx 3meters high, just to the left and right or the car, for when going through offroad "canyons" (admittedly only twice to date ) only because I found that their "normal" position is totally useless on an HSE with bi-xenons as the latter are very bright on their own.
So just looking to add some "oomph" to the poor conventional bulbs that come standard in these driving lights... Brighter bulbs were a consideration but if there's a neat HID solution I'd rather go with that.
I would prefer the ballasts in the light housing as I often remove the whole thing for city driving (and use blanking grommets on the bumper), so a single connector would be ideal...
Anyone remember if the bulb in these is a H7 or H5?
