Caravan towing electrics winch?

Just wondering what amps are the caravan towing electrics? I need to get a portable winch (cant be a hand one!) which I can chuck in the boot and don't really want to have it hard wired straight to the battery, so I thought if the electrics were capable of taking it.

Is this possible? Ive found a warn winch like this

cheers

It draws 65 amps at max pull, which would instantly kill the towing electrics. You need to hard wire this to the main battery. Why not fit an Anderson plug into the boot side panel to allow easy connect/disconnect?

Its not too difficult to run some heavy guage wiring to the boot area.

would a leisure battery operate it with the grey plug to charge it?

and would i need to fit a split charger relay or is there one built into the landrover with the wiring harness of the grey plug?

Cheers

you can get a bakrak that fits over the tow bar and holds a winch. you will need heavy duty cables as under load the winch can draw a lot

However, I would suggest you think again. I had a rear winch for mounting on the tow bar - its was way too heavy and not the sort of thing you would just "chuck in the boot". the weight of the winch, bracket and rope made it impractical IMO

depends on what you want to use it for though - not self recovery I assume
