Which, if any, D3 bits transfer over to a D4 ?
I'm having evil thoughts for the new year & that got me thinking about which if any bits on my D3 might be transferable to a D4 ?
I'm assuming that the front & rear lamp guards are vehicle specific, so new ones would be required for a D4, right ?
How about the full height dog guard, would my D3 one fit a D4 ?
How about tow bars, are there different mounting points for the multi height tow bar on a D4, compared to the one on my D3 ? Would a new tow bar be required ? How about the towing electrics ?
Mantec plate !! Would the D3 one transfer over to a D4 ?
Finally wheels & tyres. I have have two sets of D3 HSE 19's, one set fitted with MTR's the other with road tyres. Will they fit & are they compatible with a D4 ?
Thanks in advance for any pointers & apologies if this has been asked & answered previously, I did do a search but TBH, not a particularly exhaustive one

Light guards - you are correct you will need a new set for the D4
Dog guard - will fit D4 fine
tow bar will fit the D4 but the electrics will not
Mantec plate no
Wheels yes

Ok, can live with that

Well to that That's the one I was really hoping for.

Excellent 8)
All told not too bad a result, however the Mantec plate was the one I was really hoping to work out. Do Mantec make a non winch version for the D4 ?
I had enough trouble tracking down the one I have for the D3, so if my evil thoughts come to fruition, looks like I'll have to go hunting again

If its any use I have fitted d4 rear light guards and they fit about as good as any of the light guards do. Trouble with the d3 guards is one of the crossbars covers the d4 led so some people cut it out. As for the fronts I'm afraid different size lights.

Thanks for that Ceekay.
I had pretty much expected new lamp guards to be needed. I do remember seeing a post a while back about someone fitting D3 LG's to a D4, but recall there being a fair bit of faffing about involved. They're a low enough priced item anyways, so new LG's it would be

Rather than opening a new thread, I thought I add a sub question here........
Can Xenon headlamps be retro-fitted to a D4 as easily as they could be done on a D3 ?
As in, just a simple plug 'n' play job ?

...and keeping with the topic title, how about these parts to transfer over from a D3 to a D4:
* Roof crossbars? (and ski rack - luggage box)
* Traxide and cabling
* Mudlaps
* Webasto timer
* Side mouldings
* Seat covers (other than the fact there's redundant holes for where the D3 has the headrest handles)

You know what..... it actually would
Before posting, I did check the Wiki to see if there was an entry, but there wasn't.
So not a bad idea at all.

Well the mudflaps do, i would say even better than they did to the d3.Practice safe eating - always use condiments.
