Pete thanks for replying on this, would you change you supplied re-map if a customer would fit a de- cat pyp after receiving the re-map originally supplied with the cat in place? in other words what would be the benefit of the de-cat pipe? Would the same apply for adding a alisport inter cooler? A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

I asked Pete about this and he said it does not need changing as the ECU would adjust itself to suit

Hi
No special remap changes are needed for a decat as the ecu will sense any changes in inlet temprature from the hot gas being able to get away faster and not causing heat soak in the turbo and intercooler which inturn gives cooler inlet temps, also any flow rise rate changes are measured by the maf and the ecu will adjust any minor needs to suite its read inputs from the sensors above amongst others. The intercooler is much the same on the modern engine management system as the D3 uses.
Where as on the older basic pre historic engine management systems changes sometimes help but are never realy needed as they didnt make that much difference. Its just like fitting an aftermarket Bosal or Timax exhaust which has slightly different characteristics to the OE one.

The 2007 onwards squirts more fuel in before the main squirt and some may be left over. It also squirts more in on overrun than the pre 2007 does.

again noticed the blue smoke, will be REcatting the car in 2weeks...
I just hope it's over after they, if not, I'm decanting the car once more, and looking for the problem elsewhere
stealer says it could be due to a small oil leak through valve rods but i cant believe this is the reason
IMO it is the turbo gaskets siezing
I mostly drive in S position so the car revs higher and has a better mileage IMHO
dunno but this is probably the reason: higher revs = faster siezing of turbo gaskets
should try to get the turbo refurb'd and see if something changes
removing and refitting the turbo through the wheel arch is a nightmare isn't it Pete
I remember fitting the decat was not so difficul even if it's a bit tricky, but how about taking and refitting the turbo itself?
turbo manufacturers all say their turbochargers need a revision, there's plenty of infos on the net
why should the autobox properly mainteined, and not the turbo, even if LR says it's sealed for life
i'm 113k (km not miles) on the clock
