Hi all.
last few days have noted the following symptoms;
Lots of black smoke under hard acceleration,
a longer pause/hesitancy to accelerate,
one loud clunk on what I though was a gear change (I drive a TDV6 auto) and then black smoke noted.
I can reproduce the black smoke easily and the pause is still noted.
There are no fault messages.
Is this likely to be a EGR valve?
regards
Peter regards
Peter

I take it the IC hose is not split? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Where do i look for that?
Wouldn't there be signs of water leaking with a split intercooler hose? regards
Peter

No water in there only pressurised air on boost and a very slight oil film.
Do a search there is plenty of info on this site on checking it with pictures etc.
It starts on the drivers side just behind the radiator.
Your best hope is that it is this hose.

Ok I had a look and there is a clear crack in the top of the hose about 3 incehes (6cm) long and the hose is really easy to press on and deform.
Thanks to all for thir replies and help.
As the car is due for a service next month I might enquire how much they will charge to replace it prior to booking it in. regards
Peter

You can get silicone ones from BAS which last longer but cost more.
Meanwhile clean it and wrap some duct tape tight around it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
