Suspension Warning light question

Evening,

The amber suspension warning light has remained lit for the last 48hrs. Was about to make the dreaded call to the warranty company when I thought I would just check the fuses first...

Found that the yellow 50amp suspension ecu cartridge fuse in the engine bay had blown. £1.00 to replace.

Was just wondering if there is any significance to this fuse blowing that anyone knows or is it just a case of popping the new one in and hey presto.....?

Just replaced the 60 amp cartridge fuse with a new one - part No YQG100440. I no longer have the 'normal height only' Amber warning light on the dash; however the compressor has failed to start.

The car is very low and more than likely resting on the bump stops.

Any ideas on getting the compressor to start up?

change the suspension relay is the next thing, but sounds like its the compressor itself.

Bodsy, are the fuses / relays likely to blow if the compressor fails completely then?

Parts at Crawley Stealer not open today! D'oh! No relay until Monday!

Geoff - guess a faultmate would be useful to check / clear the faults them or get the stealer to have a look.

Not familiar with what the fuse is for, but sounds like the compressor to me. Would it be an idea to unplug the compressor, replace fuse and see if the fuse holds? Then plug the compressor in and see if the fuse blows?
For the sake of a £1 its an easy check to see if its the compressor thats knack'ed......

Can see if I have the electrical drawings to check out what the fuse is for tomorrow.

Thumbs Up

Chocolademan, sounds like a good idea. Am gonna buy a relay and a few fuses on Monday and will give you're suggestion a go. Thumbs Up if you've got hold of the drawings re what the fuse does then great.

Cheers

Right then, checked it out and you have the 60A going to the compressor through the relay. There's also 5A going into the control module from the 60A feed, so if the 5A is blown you have a problem with the control module (which I doubt, as I would expect the 5A to blow before the 60A).

Sorry, but my money is on the compressor Confused Whistle

Hi - I must be in for the 'grand slam' of issues and faults with my D3.

Slightly 'off topic' - but I have had rear tailgate issues, injector issues, gearbox issues, EGR valve issues and - back to topic - compressor issues.

Had exactly the same symptoms as you describe - and sadly Big Cry - had to replace the air compressor - my D3 was 'crashing around' at its lowest height for a day - not pleasant at all - all sorted now....what's next?? Shocked

Good luck

Cheers Thumbs Up

I've had mine 12 months and this is the first time it's let me down so I suppose I'm not doing too bad really. Although I do have an intermittent rear PDC fault - got the bits to do it myself, just finding the time to sort it.

Gonna get fuses and relay this morning and if that fails I'll be making the call to the warranty company. I've heard bad things about them so am not looking forward to it! Big Cry

Update time....

Put the new 60a cartridge fuse in, uncoupled both electrical connections at the compressor and no blown fuses but obviously got the special programmes bong come on.

Put the new relay in and re-connected the compressor. Still getting special programmes off / susp warning light on. Compressor still fails to start but fuse hasn't blown.

The casing of the compressor motor is getting warm though, so it's clearly getting power to it but what's happening from here I ain't got a clue!

Shall be making the dreaded warranty call tomorrow. Evil or Very Mad
