Blown maxi fuse on battery
Hi all,
For the second time in a year my 60 plate D4 has blown the maxi fuse at the poitive terminal on the battery. This kills the feed to the starter motor an turns my pride and joy into a 2.5 tonne paper weight. Last time it was recovered to dealer but I lucked out today with Mike from the AA. Mike replaced the fuse with a slightly off spec one that got me home, but then arraned a LR tech to come to the house and put in the proper one. Going to start carrying a spare and some tools
Before i send it into the stealer, anyone got any ideas what causes this? Bit stumped especially as my car is an auto?
Cheers

current affairs
get a current clamp on the cable and check when cranking
Had two similar issues before
1) Inlet manifold gasket fail and water hydrauliced the engine, starter stalled, main fuse blew (cortina MK4)
2) Second stage on starter motor shorted and battery post melted in a pretty shower of lead (next to my shoulder) FV432
sorry all doom and gloom
but fuses don't blow for no reason you can;t just keep popping in a new oneIt is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
