Thanks for the advice.
Can someone confirm if it is safe to leave the ipod cable plugged into the port but not an ipod/iphone?
Reason I ask is that when I was playing with the cable and original port the phone wouldnt charge and the iphone displayed a message saying unrecognised accessory or words to that effect. I unplugged the phone but left the cable connected.
Came to start the car approx 30mins later and it wouldn't start due to flat battery.
Now this could be conincidence as I'd had the interior ights on and radio for around 15mins etc but thought it could be something to do with the cable/port on the charging circuit as I found something on the net about some ports having resitors to sink the voltage from 12v to 5v
I don't fancy testing it and ending up with a flat battery again if that is the case.

I cannot see any reason why leaving the cable connected to the iPod socket would drain your battery, I think it must have been coincidence
My cable has been permanently connected to the socket since I switched the socket to the newer version without any battery issues, and having checked when that was from my earlier post in this thread dated 7th Oct 2011 I make that 7 months now!

Hi Folks,
Does anyone know if LR021802 will suit a MY11 TDV6 with low-line stereo?
I looked inside the console lid and it doesn't appear to have the same shape as pictured in the rangerovers.net link on the previous page. So at least, I'll need the lid (part number?), socket (LR021802) and cable (LR019691).
New road laws in my state now make it illegal to touch a phone while not parked. Skipping tracks on the iPhone is therefore not allowed.
Thanks,
Rob

Answering my own question - I RTFM this afternoon and it says to select "Portable media" from the touch screen to use this socket. As the low line doesn't have a touch screen - and definitely no "Portable media" input (only AUX), I don't believe this suits.
