Should my windscreen be defrosted before my D3 is started as Thursday and Friday were very frosty and mi bitch is on mi case moaning.

NO !!!! the timed pre heat is gone. The FBH will assist the engine to warm up quickly, but it will notcome on in advance of starting the engine.
