Getting into the user settings menu on D3

Can anyone explain how to get into the user settings on a D3. Just purchased an 05 TDv6 and I'm going throught the user manual. I want to change the time that the 'follow me home' light stay on for. Apparently you can do this through the settings menu.

The manual says you can enter this by having the start key at any position and then press the i button on the headlight stalk. Well I can;t get this to work. The manual also says the car needs to be stationary..... but does it need to be running? either way i still can't get it to work.

One more thing that the manual says is that the display should be on the blank screen. Well I'm not sure what this means either.

Can anyone help?

Doesn't have to be running, but think you have to press it twice.

Ok so I go in my car. put the key in, turn it until the screen lights up. Press the button twice.

All it seems to do is cycle through the trip computer. Does not enter the user settings menu. I must be missing a step somewhere. Crying or Very sad

Don't think your missing a step. It's not meant to be hard Whistle

Just had a look in the manual and it says a "quick" press to get into the setting menu....

Yes it says that in mine as well.

Mine also says it needs to be on a blank screen. Not sure what this means. i can cycle through the trip computer until the only thing on the screen is the vehicle height setting. ie no trip computer information and if I press the button on that screen it will simply go to the next trip computer setting.

Yes I know it sounds real simple on the book. I wonder if that ability has been somehow removed from my car.

Hi,
I have a 07 SE with the standard CD400 radio with no steering wheel controls.
I cant access the menu either. Big Cry
From what I understand you need the radio controls on the steering wheel. Sad
regards
Andrew

I have a standard radio but I do have radio controls on steering wheel (that work). I think though that they were installed by the previous owner as a modification.

Hmm I wonder if the system still thinks there are no radio controls then.

What should happen as you cycle through the trip computer, you get a blank page and then the next press of the button moves to the setting menu as long as you are stationary. A press of >>| or |<< should enter the menu.

I've just checked mine with ignition set to pos II (everything illuminated) but as far as I can remember, you can get to the menu when you're sat in D as long as you aren't moving.

Nope. No good. I think this feature may have somehow been disabled in my vehicle. All I wanted to do is lenghten the time for the follow me home lights.
