I'd happily take your £5. It's classic symptom of the pivot. Nothing more sinister IMHO.
£2.99 can of spray grease from Halfrauds & 10mm socket thingie, bit of crawling around under the car dropping the gearbox cover at one end & it's sorted. Now carry the can in the dour pocket but haven't used it in 2000 miles.

no its not, what a load of .
Had pivot replaced, still the same
Had complete new auto selector/cable, still the same
Had new gearbox, all mended and fine
I rest my case
If the OP has a stiff gear lever, then the pivot WILL cure the fault...
If it moves nice and freely, and still jumps out of gear, then you may be right. But still, I would rather spend £10 on a hopeful fix first, than £4k+ on a new autobox. Or maybe thats just me?
Did you ever think that your gearbox failed due to the amount of miles on it, most of them while towing all day, every day?
Same with your water pump? Just beacuse your failed at 400,000 (ish) miles, doesnt mean everyone else's will fail at 105k miles

Guys - for anyone that is/was interested I have replaced the pivot and ................................................................................ all sorted!!! Can't belive how a £9 piece of kit can change the whole car!!
And I most plug Steve Parkers Independant Land Rover Specialist of Rochdale who done the work for me.
Being new to the LR scene I was worried about finding a good independant to care for the vehicle, it is nice to find someone with great pedigree and depth of experience, without feeling you are just another invoice. He may be a 110mile round trip, but well worth it.
