| What happens in Sport Mode? |
|
May be just a simple "nothing" answer but I was wondering whether there are any other changes to the D4 config if you select Sport mode. Obviously the gear change points alter but are there any other changes to the suspension for instance?
Just a passing thought...

Cant give you any technical answers on this one, but can tell you:-
1. The harder you press the go button the wider the grin
2. Eye balls protrude
3. Passengers go quiet
4. You arive before you set off
5. My MPG improves (don't know why!)
6. You breath out once you have come to a stop

With the exception of locking out 6th gear, I have not noticed and difference on the road between vigorous use of the go pedal in Drive and Sport.
The only obvious difference is more revs in normal driving around as there is no 6th gear.

I don't believe there are any tweaks such as the suspension tightening up, but Garry, you've either turned the adaptive mode to a quivering wreck or there's something wrong - the difference in sport is a lot more than that, 'specially in the D4. Straight off the lights, it holds the gears longer, but it's also much quicker to change down when you increase the throttle pressure, and to change down when braking to give you more engine braking. It should also use 6th! I find that if you're in moving traffic in top and flick into sport ready for an overtaking opportunity, it'll often (but not always) drop down a cog immediately, then another cog or two as you accelerate (nicely, not in the vicious way of a full foot to the floor kick-down), and then get you past the traffic quickly. If it's a twisty road, sport holds the gears that bit longer to make the car a lot more chuck-able (less braking), but once you're back onto fast and straight again it should go back into top. OTOH if you're bowling down the motorway at 70ish and flick into sport, it will always drop a gear immediately and will take a long time to shift back up - I think it's expecting some fun at this point
