buzzing noise on aux.

ok, so this is an ongoing problem but made a breakthrough today with replicating the problem, which maybe would give someone with an intimate knowledge of the D3 a clue as to the cause.

Fault: vehicle speed related buzzing (not engine rev related) on left hand front speaker when selecting aux channel on stereo.

However it only happens if you have selected aux channel after the stereo has been on CD or AM previously. If you had FM on and select aux all is perfectly quiet and no interference.

so..... any ideas?

DD, I use aux a lot as I have an Ipod plugged in most of the time and honestly can say I have not noticed this.

What are you using on the Aux channel? I have found that best results are acheived if the aux unit (ipod etc) has the vol turned to mid range and then the car volume used to control the comfort level.

Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of sound.

I have a belkin car kit thing for the ipod which works great, with that the volume is preset .. I assume balanced for a standard aux input. I managed to finally tract this down and reproduce every time today. however I do not have anything plugged into the aux input at all. Im confident its not the aux input that is the problem at all as when used its fine, and if you go from FM to aux its silent as it should be with nothing plugged in. Im more interested as i believe it could be indicative of the niggly electrical issues this vehice has and may point to something which hasnt been considered.

I would be interested if anyone get the chance to try this and see if it happens to all D3s.. i doubt it.

oh and its clearly audible at 18 on volume....my normal music or talksport volume Wink

So, you're selecting the Aux input, which has nothing plugged in, and you hear a road speed related buzzing. This only happens whenl you have been listening to AM or CD prior to selcting Aux?

I am not going to try this now because I have had a couple of drinks, but I will try in the morning.

I'll give this a try as well and see what happens. Don't ever remember an issue with the aux channel, but I'll have a go and see what happens. cheers.

I have the same issue, but haven't worked out how to get rid of it yet. As you stated it doesn't always happen. I'll be interested if anybody can sort this out.

for me this is a guaranteed repeatable issue as described above I can replicate it every time. if you cant then maybe there is some other problem? might be worth giving it a test to see if swapping from AM to aux shows the problem, and FM to aux doesn't.

I get a buzzing with a cable in the aux socket but that cable not connected to the iPod. Plug in the iPod or take out the cable, buzzing stops. I do find that I need the volume up fairly loud with the iPod & get one hellova fright if I get a traffic announcement. Shocked

PS JMC, I'm not just up, been cruching apples since 9am so wish U was!! Wink

Just tried mine, and as you suspected mine is silent on aux with nowt plugged in.

Could be linked to your sat nav going in circles problem. Its all part of the same system.

Buzzing on Aux

I had the same problem. You have a bad shield ground.

The buzzing happens whether you're connected to the Belkin adapter or not, right ? Simply put, a wire attached at only one end is an antenna and will pick up any noise it can and feed it straight into your radio.

The adapter is a bit odd and is not necessarily easy to connect - even though it may look connected.

Try the following:

    - Remove the Belkin adapter from the power port

    - Put it back and ensure it is in tight

    - Disconnect your audio cable at the Aux input and the Belkin Adapter

    - Plug it back in and ensure it is completely inserted in the jack

I realize this sounds simplistic, but that's essentially what fixed mine.

Your mileage may vary.

Im sorry but I cant see how this can be? given problem only causes noise from one speaker and it doesnt hapen when changing to aux from FM only when changing from AM or CD.
