What is the life of the 2.7Tdv6 engine |
|
I know this question is a little bit "how long is a piece of string"
But does anybody have any thoughts about the average lifetime of the Disco 3 2.7Tdv6 engine. My car now has 92k and I will have the £1000 service coming up next. Is it time to consider a change of car?
I have had the car from new and it has not been abused. The dilemma I have is do I pay for the service and 4 new tyres or do i put that money to a new car

Resale value now will be affected as most savvy buyers will know the big service is due, however with winter approaching prices should hold up.
If you've had it from new without issues why not hang on to it? Then again if you can afford it why not change?
I've just bought one with 125k on the clock and it is running sweet as a nut, full dealer history behind it, so will see how it fares but mileage doesn't really bother me, it's how the car feels and drives. 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

I work on the principle that if it survives the first 50-60k without blowing up then it should have plenty of life left if looked after.
Might be wishful thinking though! Tony

The £1000 service is 105k miles. The timing belt needs changing, but I am sure cheaper prices exist at LR independents.

I'm sorry...... £1000 yer havin a laugh
Never paid that EVER for the belts/105k service and mines had em done 4 times
BTW, get the water pump changed at the same time, only approx £40 for the part and could save yer engine
Pete, best hit the search button on this site under 105 service.
Can suggest a MLR dealer who's hourly rate is very attractive if yer want to pm me

TFC doesnt do the 105K service. At least he didnt when I had mine done. Too much risk if things go wrong and the time it takes to do it.. Duncan
