A new problem with my D3 (it's all getting a bit tedious now). The top half of my tailgate won't open (and, thus, neither will the bottom)- I hear the electric motor whirr into action but it doesn't actually unlock the catch. So it's doing half the job. Took it to dealer who don't know what's wrong and have it now booked in for next week for a repair but does anyone have any ideas?
ps - I've tried the emergency unlock (using the dash buttons) and it does exactly the same thing as if I press the tailate switch.
As you can imagine, it's pretty bloody annoyng getting shopping and pushcairs out through the rear passenger doors. Java TDV6 HSE with Alpaca and a few other fancy bits

Phil,
You are the second person on this Forum who has had this problem. I'm the other.
In my case the folloing happened:
The cable hook from the electric motor to the lock had broken. The only way to open the top tailgate was to cut a hole in the lower tailgate inside trim tso you could access the lock by hand to unlock it.
The lock and cable assembly in mine was repaced with one D3 off the Dealer's stock and the tailgate trim was replaced about 6 weeks after another was ordered from the UK.
Your problem sounds familiar. Let us know what was the root cause.

Many thanks - I'll let the dealer know of your expereince so they have the parts in when the car goes in - at least that way it won't be off the roaf longer than necessary. Will keep you posted. Java TDV6 HSE with Alpaca and a few other fancy bits
