towbar electrics download reuired why is this ?????

hi all

i am after getting towbar electrics fitted to my disco 4 i have seen them on ebay and was going to fit them myself, the thing is it says sytem download required can anyone please tell me what the down load does and is it 100% required to make the lights etc work on my caravan

also do i need the 7 or 13 pin kit for towing a caravan

thanks shawn bali blue disco 4 with rear dvd's, privacy glass, pre heat system, heated steering wheel, full size spare, piano black trim, ipod cable, 20 inch wheels and i love it loads more than my TDV8 RRS, KTM 250 EXC 2 Stroke for the real off road stuff

Electrics should work ok without enabling with either a Faultmate or at the dealers. If not enabled then it will not turn your parking sensors off or disable automatic raising of vehicle in terrain response modes. Also on D4 it enables tow assist if fitted with surround cameras. ( not to be confused with trailer stability assist which is standard on all D4 models and doesn't require enablement).

Wiggs or Pete(BellAutos) should be able to enable it for you at less than stealer rates Thumbs Up

7 or 13 pin depends on what intend to tow, most modern trailers, tintents use the 13 pin system. Converters are available to convert one to the other but the 13 pin to 7 pin is more compact. I run a 13 pin connector on the car and convert to 7 pin using an adaptor when required Thumbs Up Club Forum Criminal !!!

thanks for the reply i will fit electrics then get it enabled at a later date then thanks again
