How to replace widshield fluid reservoir

The stealership wants to charge me nearly 100 pounds for labor on top of the 100 pounds for the part to change the windshield fluid reservoir, they claim it is leaking! it is the first time this has happened to me in any car I have ever owned regardless of age. Can any one share the instructions on how to replace it myself?

Cheers.

This happened to me last winter. The bottle froze solid and burst. Apparently the front bumper, inner wheel arch, front grille and headlamp all have to come out to gain access to it It was not a job I fancied tackling last January !!!

It cost me all in £181 Big Cry

I've just done it mate

I'd do it urself if ur half handy mate, I've just done mine, took 1 hour dead easy job, there's a YouTube video for removing bumper, the bottles 30quid of eBay, and it's just couple bolts, I detest spending at the stealership, rekon you'll do it for 50 and the other 130 quids for cool summer beers

I'm no mechanic and it's a doddle, it's not as if ur stripping the engine!!!
Give it a go.......

B16 makes it sound hard, I can take the front grill off in less time it take to get the bonnet up.

Thanks guys, besides youtube, does anyone have detailed instructions on how to remove the parts in order for me to reach the reservoir? I have taken off bumpers in the past, I just do not have a clue as to were all the bolts are for the LR3.

Cheers.

Thanks Bobby, I will probably get to it in a couple of days, my wife is out of town for a week and I have time to do some wok on the car. I guess I can take the ipad to the garage and follow the instructions.

Will report back soon.

I changed mine last summer, gives a good feeling knowing you have saved money and done it yourself!

its easy to get the wheel arches and bumper off, all you need is a pair of pliers, a flat blade screw driver, a cross hair screw driver and a 8mm socket (or it could be a 7mm socket, or even a 6mm socket - cant remember Embarassed )

should take about an hour end to end - a little longer if you have an A bar

Finally watched the video! Great stuff, two questions:

1) Is the procedure the same for Xenon headlights and will they need adjustment post reinstallation?
2) Please confirm that the reservoir is on the driver's side and that the is only one.

Looks straight forward otherwise and I need to take off the steel plate to take out the bumper.

Cheers.

Passenger side for you is probably driver side for us Smile The guy in the video took out the steel bash plate, perhaps that is necessary for the A bar installment and not to get to the reservoir. What do I do with the parking sensors, are these individually connected?

Didn't mean to make it sound difficult, but up here last January it was minus 9 degrees and we had approx 12" of hard packed snow and ice. Not having a garage meant I would have had to try and get everything off to gain access in those conditions.

Now if it had happened in the summer 8) , but in the winter Sad
