Replacement key availability problem?
I ordered a replacement key in May at a main dealer and was told there would be a couple of weeks delay due to a component not being available due to the Tsunami in Japan.
It is now July and still no key.
Does anyone know if this is true or is the dealer taking me for a !!
not sure about the Japan connection but the lack of availability is correct at the momentTLO has left the building.......

a few blank keys/fobs on ebay , get it cut then take it to landrover to be ''keyed'' to the car ?
on;y works if the key has not been already coded to a car
many have spent money on the bay keys only to find they are no0 better than a paper weight TLO has left the building.......

I'm also sure I read that there was issues with getting the keys cut due to it being laser cut not ground.
I have already parted with money for the genuine LR article I am just amazed at 2 months for a new key.
I wonder how many are now on backorder? Is it the same key for the RR sport etc?
the first issue which started this all off was incorrect cut keys coming through from LR, this then was sorted by LR paying for a complete new lockset and labour to fit
this became unsustainable so replaced the cutting machine
now there is an issues with a 3rd tier supplier supplying a component for the key holding everything up
yes, same key for D3 and RRSTLO has left the building.......

I need a 2nd key, my problem is that the previous owner was a company, so I do not know who the named driver actually was. Due to data protection, the company will not tell me who it is that (probably) still has the 2nd key.
Before I lash out on a dealer key, any tips in tracking down unknown previous owners
I do know where it was serviced though..........................
Your dealer should be able to "exclude" the missing key from being able to start the car or set/reset the alarm. However, unless you get the locks changed, it'd still be useable to mechanically unlock the front passenger door.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

What's the company? Surely they could contact the previous user on your behalf without letting you know who it is and if he/she has a key to arrange for you to have it.
Maybe you spoke to an employee on the switchboard who thinks that it's a trip to Timpsons on the High Street and pay £1.50 for a spare key. If only...
