Which Diagnostics?

After a cul-de-sac display of festive lights on the dashboard over the christmas period and the local indie shut until after new years I am looking for a diagnostic tool to carry around with me.

What would be recommended as best value for money rather than necessarily the cheapest.

I've looked at the Gap Diagnostics IIDT bt,
The BAS Remap Box,
Faultmate,
Nanocom

I'm so confused now and seem to be going around in circles. I'm persuaded towards the Nanocom, It seems like a great piece of kit. Does anyone have any opinions of these tools from personal use?

Cheers

I think you can narrow your decision to either the Nanocom (new but promising) or the IID Tool.

I'd argue the IID Tool is the best value.

depends on your skill level, the faultmate MSV will do everything completely

the iiD will do a lot now with good interactive control on the dash, but only the selection of options available in the unit is all you get.

rest I cannot comment on as not had them Thumbs Up

Faultmate is still the daddy of diagnostics for now, but it's not cheap

Nanocom, big thread all about this, have a read through the thread, and make your own mind up

IID is probably the most exciting upcoming tool. There is also a thread on here with all of the developments, including more flash programming, CCF editing, and Bluetooth control, via iPad/iPhone

Anyone know the best place/price the IID BT can be sourced?
I keep looking at the IID and Nanacom and am undecided but am tempted by the Nanacom being available at a discounted price at the moment

Chaps
As everyone seems to point out, the Faultmate MSV-2 provided by BBS is indeed now the absolute king of all diagnostic systems bar none.
The MSV-2 has actually been around for many years now, but once had really very humble beginnings In fact when released all it could really do was read and clear fault codes Rolling Eyes

Like The Nanocom Evolution, the Faultmate MSV-2 was first introduced with an introductary discount offer, with quite limited capabiliity and only but my promise and word that more capability would be freely added in due course.

Those who believed me, including many prevelent members of this board, duly invested in one and certainly now have absolutely no reason for complaint, because over time i did indeed freely add such immense capability beyond anyones expectations that has truly made the MSV-2 what it is today and without ever increasing the purchase price of the MSV-2 at all.

Of course times have since changed and just as we have seen many times before in our 20 Years of leading the field in providing diagnostic equipment for Land Rover vehicles we now see some longing for our crown.

While we may have had some setbacks this year and have taken our time to respond and react to market changes, that may well have seemed like we were falling behind.

Absolutely nothing could possibly be further from the truth of the matter as surly most must realise that we are not exactly newbies here

Although also with humble beginnings in respect of capability, we have managed to release the Nanocom Evolution with coverage for some CAN BUS in time for Christmas and with an introductary discount.

As with others before, you once again have only my promise and word that further functionality and capability will be freely added that will once again make investors of this system very glad they believed in us.

I am indeed taking a few days to have at least some R&R, but when you
have been working so flat out recently especially, it's pretty hard to relax
completely, and of course i still like to be around enough to help folks out where i can Thumbs Up

Then there are always the plans for world domination that have to be made Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

So i do apologize if my last post on this thread seemed a bit much, it is really
just my frame of mind right now. Wink

I have also been doing some tinkering with my latest LR, changing out the
drivers base seat cover and i have had a go with my new AR Drone 2.0 toy.

But mostly i am spending some quality time with my Wife and Dogs including Poppie who is enjoying her first Christmas.

She picked up on the excitment level days before and her sense of smell is so acute
that we really had to wait until Christmas morning to add the dogs presents under
the tree. Straight away she was checking the presents and smells out.

Our two other dogs who are much more experienced quickly showed Poppie how to unwrap
the presents and it soon became a total free for all Rolling with laughter
