Bong - 'suspension fault' |
|
Now a member of the suspension fault club today.
1. towing a small trailer (empty) - suspension fault. Switched car off then on again, went away.
2. just about to unhitch (another but again empty trailer), heard compressor running for a few seconds. Wife told me that suspension fault came up, but when getting back into the car it had disappeared.
3. then driving home towing nothing, suspension fault. Only cleared by car off then on again.
The LCD displays are accompanied by the amber warning light, car with arrows up/down/side to side etc. Suspension doesn't lower, off road extended mode still works fine.
Please tell me this is an easy fix?

I had exactly same a couple of weeks ago! Its happened twice now.....
Was driving with the minidigger on the back so was a bit concerned first time. Wasn't a problem towingand everything works ok when the fault goes away...
Hav'nt had it lately.

Okay, will do. What's so special about the wiring plugs in that particular location? I assume that's nearside front?

Update - just remembered that last week we raised the car on a trolley jack; one front wheel off the ground at a time. Apert from a display something like the suspension was resetting on start up, it went a week with no faults, then came up with the three on Saturday.
Related or not? Has a sensor gone out of clunk? Wouldnt have thought it should do though.
Would I be better getting a faultcode reader and finding the problem myself?

Just picked up my Faultmate so am gonna check this week. Obviously the fault isn't there at the minute so don't know if past faults are recorded. Gonna read up a bit first. If not recorded gonna hook up the trailer and see if I can get it up again. Could be similar fault as yours.....

Martin,
Thanks, I'm seriously considering the Faultmate purchase route. I think it does read all stored codes until cleared but that's just from memory from previous posts on here. Perhaps someone with one who has used theirs loads can let us know what it does.

Is there an ECU on the D3 for the suspension? Will the Faultmate flag up a code for a fault on this?
