Any car thats 5 years or 100K miles old is going to start needing bushes replacing. Check to see what has been done already as they do start mounting up. I would say if none have been done then you will soon have large bills coming in ...... but they are cracking cars no matter how skint they make you Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Just out of interest Character, is your car like Trigger's Broom?
What major parts have you had to replace & I'm not talking wear & tear things like bushes etc.?
Only curious, I'm on a mere 114k so not even run in yet! Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

well I said I would keep this thread up dated. I have been without internet for a while so missed some posts including the offer, sorry. Anyway I have bought one 06 se high spec which I am very happy about and got a great deal on it. Yes taken warranty with which I am already pleased about as the other day coming back from a day out it goes into 'limp home' mode - no power. Anyway call garage, they arrange collection and dropping off of courtesy car. Very impressed with the garage response, an independent dealer based in Birmingham selling prestige cars. I had a call yesterday to say that it was the ECG valves? Does that sound right? anyway they are to be replaced and hopefully car will be ready on Thursday to collect.
So yes all the comments are correct, the are problematic - especially at the high mile stage but they are lovely cars and a joy to drive. to be honest I have had BMW, Merc and Audi and they have all come with there problems. My opinion is that high mileage prestige cars just have more to go wrong with them. If you are prepared for that then you wont be disappointed and it has been helped by the garage being everything you would expect from a dealer.
Out of the cars I have driven I don't think this will be the last Disco I will own, it has already done what I bought it for - ferried the children and their friends around, taken my family and a friends family out for the day with everyone commenting how nice it was and how comfortable it was.
So my last word -

Well done & a good choice
I think you mean the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valves which are prone to fault on these & many other makes of car. Unfortunately, your car is a later model & can't have its EGR valves blanked off
You did not mention the mileage on the car you bought in the end???
P.S. You will now need to change your username to something like "justbought" Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
