common problems
Hi,
I’m new to this site as the misses and I are thinking about getting a D3 at some point in the future. I have a question about reliability though and wonder if anyone could help.
I just want to know what common problems we should expect to come across and the average costs to repair? We would probably be looking at a 2006 2.7D SE or HSE!
Thanks in advance.
Ross

Welcome rossh, just search "problem" and all will be revealed. Hope you've got plenty of time.

Welcome rossh ...make sure you don't buy Del's ...it's crap and unreliable 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi rossh, having had almost every 4x4 available over the years, without doubt the Disco 3 is the best in every way. If you read this forum, you may be put off, but I think it represents only a small proportion of all the Discoverys on the road, and many of the contributors to this forum do weird things like taking their beautiful Discoverys through mud and swamps up to the headlights, and then write about things that have stopped working! Go for the HSE, you get all the knobs&whistles including a TV. There is more to go wrong, but with any luck it wont.
Having said what I have, I would hate to run a Disco without a warranty and a full service history, 'cos if it does go wrong, as with all 4x4's it could seriously damage your wallet.

They like a bit of mud (DG your old ride is in there)

and a bit of sand

and even a light dusting of snow

Unfortunately they do like a bit of extra TLC!
