Hi all, a humble ask for help, every time i go over a lump, bump or hole there is an almighty banging from the rear of the car (D3). I've had a gander underneath and there are two weights, one either side hanging down, these appear to be the cause of my noise polution as they are banging around making a bl£$*" racket all the time.
Has anybody got any solutions to this problem please?
I also have a rake of other problems and (I'm embarressed to say) dont trust my local stealer, I'm in Portsmouth, does anybody know someone trustworthy that i could take yonder beast to for some trustworthy help?
Please help, frustrated and skint!!!

The weights behind the rear bumper are harmonic dampers and should swing freely; they can sometimes catch on the towing electrics loom. I'd guess that your spare wheel is not fully winched up and is the culprit. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

I have just returned from an off road safari in Botswana and had terrible banging from the rear especially when in heavy uneven sand with drive in sand mode and suspension raised. I also thought it may be the swing dampers however I could not find anywhere it could bang against that hard to make such a noise. Anybody know what the problem is? PS its not my spare wheel as this is on a rear swing arm with no play or movement. is there a previous post regarding this problem I can check. Q86ARR seems to think it may be anti roll bar bushes? I had loads of banging coming from the rear end especially, but also fromt he front (yes my D3 has to work for a living!). We have just replaced this lot thanks to TLO (cheers Nick) it didnt cost too much!
LR015339 BUSH ANTI-ROLL BAR FRONT x 2
LR015336 BUSH, REAR CROSS MEMBER & STABILIZER BAR x 2
LR019117 END -SPINDLE CONNECTING ROD, REAR T0E LINK x 2
LR010525 ARM-REAR UPPER LH x 1
LR010670 STEERING ARM & BOOT, M20, LH x 1
I hope that the little knocking that is left will go when I replce the RH upper arm which i intend to order on Monday, changing the bushes that have been done has made a hugh difference.
