BOOT CAN'T OPEN WITH ENGINE RUNNING

Noticed today when I got out the car that the boot wouldn't open with the engine running.
Tried the unlock button on the door and also the smart key but still wouldn't open.
As soon as I stopped the engine it was able to open.
Anyone else noticed this yet ?

A real pain if you stop to drop someone off and can't get their luggage out the boot unless you kill the engine.

Try pressing the door unlocking button on the driver's door.

Bill is correct - you need to unlock the car, even if driver / passenger door(s) open - assume it is so nobody can sneak up behind and open it

Thanks guys. Will try it later. Had a trailer on at the time it wouldn't open.
Might make a difference ?

Have had exactly the same problem but only when a trailer is hitched on & nothing short of switching the engine off allowed the boot to open - I wonder if it is to avoid damage to the boot if a trailer is hitched up and too close to the car?

If selector is in park the tail can be opened with engine running.
If in neutral it cannot.
