Intermittent Power Loss
Recently for no obvious reason after about 90 mins driving, experienced huge loss of power. Stopped, switched engine off for a few mins, restart and its okay again. Has done it several times now. Dealer cleared fault codes, problem is still there. Any ideas please.[/b]

As a random guess, I'd say it might be a faulty turbo.

Mine did that a few times in the first few weeks - usually on the Motorway

Does the power loss occur.
On the motorway when you slightly back off then accelerate again?
Or around town coming out of a speed limit and accelerating?In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Yes Anderw S,
Typically at acceleration in 2nd when engine under a little pressure, complete loss of boost/torque. I suspect faulty air mass meter, but dealer says unlikely.

I had this 9 month ago, it was software problem, something to do with the fuel temperature measurement, there is a TSB for this, dealer uploaded a patch and it did not happen again.

Thats what they replaced on mine

without knowing the fault codes in the power train control module then i'm afraid one can only speculate

Similar problems occurred with my mates car that was being used to develop a tune. The fault was easily rectified by changing settings. So I presume that it may be a software issue.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
