How to remove the instrument cluster
Trying to locate an annoying clicking sound coming from the dashboard when driving, think it may be from the area behind where the instrument cluster is. Does anyone know how this is removed?

Pull the trim off left and right of the steering wheel
Also remove large trim panel in front of your knees
Drop the steering wheel down to its lowest position and you will see 2 torx screws behind the black steering wheel trim that moves inline with the adjuster
Undo the screws and cluster will pull out

Thanks
Have done all of these apart from removing the torx screws when looking for something else a little while ago so sounds easy. Is the cluster on plugs so pulls out but disconnects the electronics or on a loom? Guess it doesnt make any odds but just like to know beforehand what's going to happen.

For once someone had the good idea for it not to disconnect when removing the instruments! Once had a Vectra that it was on plugs so fault-finding would have been difficult! Thankfully only a blown filament bulb that backlit one of the displays.

Does the small panel left of the steering wheel wich houses the cabin thermostat, just pull off? I need to check it but dont want to damage the small dash panel??

Buda,
Yep, agree with that, pull it off towards you. There's four of those clips that one or two will no doubt go flying off never to be seen again. It's one of those things that seem it's going to break but most times doesnt.

Thanks for this info guys.
I've just looked through the procedure in the workshop manual and it entails removing the steering wheel and column... what a mission! So happy there's an easy way!

I had a really annoying rattle behind the instrument cluster and I found the culprit: a screw that had not been tightened properly and had come loose. Problem now solved!2015 Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE - Montalicino Red

Had you put a small "blob" of grease on the spring retaining clips they would not only have gone back easier the would be much easier to remove next time hope you have cured the rattle, I hate them.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
