| Where is the oil filter on the TDV6 |

I changed the oil on my D3 TDV6 on the weekend and had the filter cartridge to change as well but I couldn't find the filter  .
I dropped the bash plate off the bottom of the sump but could not see the oil filter, could only see the sump plug. I suspect it is remotely located. I had a look on top of the engine after removing the plastic cover but could not locate it. There is a black plastic canister near the fire wall at the back of the engine but it looks too small for the filter and you can't get to it too easily.
Any clues?
